En el mes de Julio la editorial inglesa Hart Publishing publicará un libro editado por los profesores Eleanor Fox (NYU - Facultad de Derecho) y Daniel Sokol (University of Florida - Facultad de Derecho) titulado "Latin American Competition Law and Policy".
En palabras del profesor Sokol, el libro recoge el trabajo de importantes académicos y prácticantes sobre diferentes tema críticos para la región y constituye uno de los libros más importantes publicados a la fecha sobre el tópico. La tabla de contenido puede ser descargada aquí.
El libro es parcialmente fruto del foro sobre carteles y abogacía de la competencia que tuvo lugar a comienzos del año pasado en Sao Paulo, concretamente en la Fundación Getulio Vargas. En dicho foro tuve la oportunidad de presentar el documento titulado "Tacit Collusion in Latin America: A Comparative Study of the Competition Laws and Their Enforcement in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Panama". Les confieso que la participación en dicho foro y la inclusión del ensayo dentro del libro (es el Capítulo 11!) representó un importante logro académico para mi.

"BOOK ABSTRACT: This book offers an unparalleled analysis of the emerging law and economics of competition policy in Latin America. Nearly all Latin American countries now have competition laws and agencies to enforce them. Yet these laws and agencies are relatively young. The relative youth of Latin American competition agencies and the institutional and political environment in which they operate limit the ability of agencies to address anti-competitive conduct effectively. Competition policy is a tool to overcome anti-market traditions in Latin America. Effective competition policy is critical to assisting in the growth of Latin American economies and their global competitiveness, and to improving the welfare of domestic consumers. This book provides new region-specific insights into how better to achieve these aims."
