Convocatoria de NYU: La Próxima Generación de "Antitrust Scholarship"

El profesor D. Sokol amablemente me ha informado acerca de una convocatoria, del cual es co-organizador, dirigida para la próxima generación de académicos en antitrust. Considero que es una oportunidad muy interesante no solo como vitrina para que jóvenes investigadores presenten sus más recientes emprendimientos sino también para conocer a quienes comparten el interés por la libre competencia.

¡La fecha límite para presentar las propuestas es el 20 de noviembre, de manera que manos a la obra!

This conference is the first ever conference for the Next Generation of Antitrust Scholars. Much has changed in both the law and economic theory of antitrust in the past 30 years. The purpose of this event is to convene a conference of the next generation of antitrust law professors (people who started their teaching career in or after 2000) and provide them an opportunity to present their latest research. Senior antitrust scholars and practitioners in the field will comment on the papers. Submissions are open to professors around the world. Papers will be accepted based upon the highest scores given to the 1,000-2,000 word abstract or full article submitted. Speakers who are accepted by an abstract must have a completed draft of the paper ready two weeks before the conference.

The conference organizers will not pay for any expenses for speakers or discussants. Refreshments at the conference, however, will be provided free of charge.

OBJETIVO

La Revista de Derecho de la Competencia es una publicación del Centro de Estudio de Derecho de la Competencia –CEDEC- junto con la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá editada desde 1999.

Sus principales objetivos consisten en:

a) Presentar ante la comunidad académica de Colombia y América Latina los resultados de investigación y reflexión de importantes estudiosos del Derecho de la competencia a nivel nacional e internacional; y

b) Hacer un aporte significativo a la discusión jurídica sobre las políticas y legislaciones de libre y leal competencia.

La periodicidad de la revista es anual.

Tema: Los artículos de la revista deben tener relación o desarrollar materias afines con el derecho de la competencia, en general se publican artículos escritos por quienes están en permanente contacto con el derecho de la competencia y su progreso desde el ámbito académico, la práctica privada o desde la autoridad de la competencia. La publicación se divide en tres secciones principales: artículos de autores extranjeros; artículos de autores nacionales; y decisiones importantes de la Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio de Colombia.

The Competition Jaw Journal (Revista de Derecho de la Competencia) is a publication of the Competition Law Study Centre – CEDEC - and the Javeriana University of Bogota edited since 1999.

OBJECTIVES

The main objectives of the Journal are the following:

a) To present to the academic community of Colombia and Latin America the results of research and reflection of important experts on Competition Law; and
b) To contribute significantly to the juridical discussion on the policies and legislations on free competition.

The periodicity of the Journal is annual.

Doctorado Europeo en "Law and Economics"

Jan Peter Sasse (jan.sasse@uni-hamburg.de) de la Universidad de Hamburg me ha reenviado un mensaje del Prof. Michael Faure con información sobre el programa de Doctorado Europeo en Derecho y Economía (European Doctorate in Law and Economics - EDLE) que es ofrecido conjuntamente por las universidades de Bologna (Italia), Erasmus Rotterdam (Holanda) y de Hamburgo (Alemania).
Por tratarse de la misma familia del European Master in Law and Economics - EMLE que tuve la oportunidad de realizar, no dudo en recomendarlo! Además, como podrán revisar en la página de internet del Doctorado dichas universidades ofrecen varias becas.

El Institute for Consumer Antitrust Studies (Loyola U. de Chicago) ofrece un Research fellowship en antimonopolios y/o protección al consumidor

El "Institute for Consumer Antitrust Studies" que dirige el profesor Spencer Weber Waller (Loyola University of Chicago) ha publicado una nueva convocatoria del ofrece un "Research fellowship" en investigación sobre las áreas de legislación antimonopolios y/o normas de protección al consumidor.

Research Fellowship


The Institute for Consumer Antitrust Studies invites applications for a Research Fellowship for the upcoming academic year (2009-10). The Research Fellowship is designed to encourage junior scholars in law, economics, business and related fields to pursue theoretical, empirical, and or applied research in antitrust and/or consumer protection law in keeping with the Institute's mission of promoting a more consumer friendly competitive economy.

DESCRIPTION:


The Research Fellowship will consist of:


- A Stipend of $39,000 plus standard Loyola University Chicago benefits

- A small research and travel budget

- Office space, computer facilities, and library privileges

- Opportunities to present Work-in-Progress

- The possibility of teaching one course or seminar in the winter semester for additional compensation depending on the applicant's background, experience, and teaching interests and the Law School's needs

- A Faculty Mentor to assist with the anticipated research program

- Participation in the intellectual life of the Institute and the Law School

The Tilburg Law and Economics Center (TILEC) will organise a workshop on Competition Policy and Regulation in Media Markets at Tilburg University (The Netherlands) on Thursday 4 June and Friday 5 June 2009. The goal of the conference is to bring together academics working on media-related issues and to foster interdisciplinary interaction between economists and lawyers. The aim is to have economic and legal contributions of the highest quality, but effort in presenting it to a mixed audience is expected. Economists are expected to bring in reasons to regulate/not regulate/ how to regulate according to economic theory, lawyers to bring in knowledge of the current regulation, of court decisions and of the legal feasibility of regulation proposals. Each presenter will be assigned a discussant. Theoretical, empirical and policy-oriented articles are welcome.

Convocatoria para jóvenes investigadores: World Competition Young Writer’s Award

World Competition (a través del "Law and Economics Journal") ha realizado una convocatoria a jóvenes investigadores (léase menores de 35 años al momento de presentar su ensayo) a la cuarta versión de su concurso anual "World Competition Young Writer’s Award" en el cual se premiará el mejor artículo publicado en el área de derecho de la competencia y ayuda estatal.

Debe resaltarse que los organizadores del concurso promueven especialmente la participación de investigadores de países en desarrollo.

"WORLD COMPETITION


is proud to announce the


World Competition Young Writer’s Award for the best article published by a young writer in the field of Competition and State aid

Candidates:
- Practitioners, academics and civil servants working in the field of competition and state aid law and economics are warmly invited to send their submissions for the 4th World Competition Young Writer’s Award.
- Candidates must be under the age of 35 at the time of submission of their article to World Competition.
- Doctorate and Master’s degree theses cannot be submitted unless they have been
reformatted according to our Guide to Authors of World Competition.
- The participation of candidates from new EU Member States, non-EU countries and particularly from developing countries is encouraged.


Procedure:
· The competition is open from 1 January 2009 and all eligible articles received for publication in 2009 will be considered. Candidates must submit their proposals to World Competition following the usual procedure with a note stating that the article is also being submitted for the World Competition Young Writer’s Award.
· All contributions received for the World Competition Young Writer’s Award that are selected by the Editorial Board for publication in World Competition in the course of 2009 will be placed in a short-list.
· Our Advisory Board will choose the winning article from the short-listed articles by the end of 2009. The announcement of the winning contribution will be made in our June 2010 issue at the latest.
· The winner of the World Competition Young Writer’s Award 2009 will be granted
a free subscription to World Competition for a year and a 1000-Euro voucher to be spent on Kluwer’s publications."
